Port Infrastructure

The region boasts a wide variety of port infrastructure available to support the development, manufacture, installation and ongoing operation and maintenance of offshore marine energy projects.

You will discover that Cornwall is well placed to access the deep-water resources in the South West approaches, Celtic Sea and European Atlantic Seaboard.  On the South coast, Falmouth is the world’s 3rd largest natural harbour, with deep and sheltered layup and construction areas in Carrick Roads, and immediate access to deeper waters in Falmouth Bay. At Falmouth Docks, A&P Group have well-established deep-water berths, excellent engineering services, and a highly skilled workforce. In addition, other ports including Newlyn, Penzance, Par and Fowey also provide excellent support potential. On the North coast, Hayle Harbour is adjacent to the Wave Hub offshore site.

An added advantage is the proximity of these ports to concentrations of research and supply chain expertise, creating an efficient and cost-effective environment in which to operate.

The South West has a unique advantage. It has extremely viable energy resource close to excellent grid and port infrastructure, research facilities and vital supply chain companies.
